The House approved President Obama’s stimulus Plan on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2009 with a 246 to 183 vote.
The $787 billion stimulus consist of 36 percent in tax cuts and 64 percent spending for social programs, however the GOP (Republicans) did not lend there backing to this plan. The most important aspect of this plan is that Obama plans to create over 3.5 million jobs, which during our economic times would be more than necessary.
Of those who voted against the plan, they believe there are not enough tax cuts to support our failing economy.
Apparently they’re romancing of the times of Bush’s famed $1.35 billion tax cut package of 2001. Which reminds me, can anyone tell me how we got into this crisis?
In the article posted on BBC News Online, Republican representative Mike Pence said before the vote: "The only thing the Democrats' stimulus bill will do is stimulate more government and more debt."
There go Obama’s plans to end bipartisanship in Washington.
